Logitech MX500 optical mouse |
This is a corded mouse; fits comfortably in your hand. Moves smoothly across table surface; works well on a mousepad as well if you need wrist support.
Worked out of the box (except for the application button) for the different buttons on the mouse. The Internet buttons allow for a page forward/ back with your thumb. There are also line up/down buttonw above and below the scroll wheel that allow for more control in scrolling.
The scroll wheel feel good, better than some other mice I have used.
I opted to use the native Windows XP mouse driver, so the application button does not work, but the Windows taskbar is not much of a hardship :-); and I prefer not to clutter up my system with another set of marginal utility software. |

Very good product |
I have always liked Logitech products, so I bought this product to replace my Microsoft Wireless.
The Logitech mouse is a real bargain. It is inexpensive but has a lot of features. The multiple buttons all have pre-assigned commands. I didn't care for many of the pre-assigned function but Logitech lets to re-program all of the buttons to do what you want. The provided software is easy to use and the combination of available functions lets you assign just about any task imaginable to the buttons. If have a system wide macro program you can couple it with the button functions to do just about anything you want without ever having to put down the mouse.
The assigned functions work very, very well. One of the things that I didn't like about Microsoft's wireless mouse was that sometimes you had to hit the button over and over again to get it to work. This is not the case with this mouse. Response is crisp and sure.
I also like the combination docking station-recharger-wireless receiver. Drop the mouse into it and it recharges. Unlike a lot of rechargers you don't have to get fiddle with it to get the terminals to match up. Just drop the mouse in the recharger and it slides right into place. It is well designed.
The only negative (and the reason that I gave the mouse four rather than five stars) has to do with the placement of the laser opening on the bottom of the mouse. It is not centered. The laser opening is off-center to the left. This takes some getting used to. If you are used to pressing directly down on the mouse, it will sometimes not track well (depending on the surface) since the laser is offset to the left. With a little use you get used to tilting it a bit to the left. That gets the mouse to read the "terrain" better but there is a learning curve involved.
Overall, however, it is far superior to the Microsoft product and I would definitely recommend it. |

Everything You'll Ever Want From A Mouse |
| This mouse is simply awesome. It's sleek, ergonomic, very functional and yet simple in design. It takes some time remembering to use the shortcut keys (browser forward/backward, quick scroll, and program switch) but once you get used to them, they'll increase your productivity. Simply the perfect mouse! |
