Soild German construction, OK microphone |
| My company sold over 500 PC130 headsets last year. I've tried every headset on the market. The PC130 is solidly built, we've had zero returns from customers for broken headsets. The microphones fail eventually, but all microphones eventually fail and these last longer than most. The headphones eventually rattle a little but last much longer than Koss headsets. The headphone sound quality is very good, not as good as more expensive headsets but very good for the price. The microphone sound quality is adequate. Compared to a 10mm microphone, this 6mm microphone doesn't noise-cancel well, and it has no low-end (bass). But no one makes headsets with 10mm microphones any more, consumers seem to care only about headphone sound quality, not microphone sound quality. Another plus with this headset is that the microphone can be wiped clean with alcohol wipes, if several people are using the headset. |

Fine, but not better than much cheaper options |
I got this as a second headset to use at school; I already had a competing model (made by Altec Lansing) on my home computer. I read about the great performance of this one, particularly the mic, and since my office at school is a bit noisy, I thought paying about double for an upgraded mic capability would be worth it.
Well, the headset works fine. But it's not better than my home unit, which cost less than half as much. I've swapped them between school and work to make sure it's not just the extra noise at school causing the performance difference, but there simply isn't one. I certainly don't notice any difference between the two models -- both provide decent stereo sound, have a mute button and a volume button, etc. If anything, the other model, with a flexible behind-the-head design, is more comfortable. But the person I'm talking to over VOIP -- my fiancee on the other side of the world -- reports absolutely no difference either.
So the product is fine. But for the money, it's not worth it. I'm not sure what "Noise Cancelling" means, but it doesn't do a better job at what I think it means than generic models that are less than half the price. I'd recommend saving your money and getting a cheaper model, or shelling out more and buying something really nice. This product is just run-of-the-mill. |

Fabulous. |
I bought the PC 135 Sennheiser headset about four months ago. Its a PC 130 with a usb based sound card which i'm not using at the moment. Overall not worth paying 40 dollars more for the USB sound card except that its a neat toy.
But the headset part is the PC 130 which is a very good headset indeed. The sound of it is superior to my logitech z 5300's. It manages impressive directional sound. I can hear what direction armies are marching in warcraft before I can see them at night for example.
The mic is durable and quite good. I talk to my girl friend routinely over the net using it. Fabulous headset for sure. |
