Good for the Price You Pay |
Not a bad all-in-one. For the money, you can't beat it. I still prefer my HP G-85, it is my workhorse printer. I just use this HP 1350 as a secondary printer. I own four HP printers and they all work great. This model doesn't take up much space and it offers decent specs. I actually even use this as a travel printer / copier when taking trips in my car.
My main problem is all the new HP printers seem to have lower capacity printer cartridges. This one uses an HP 56 black ink cartridge that only has a 19 ml capacity. My HP G-85 uses a HP 45 ink cartridge that has a 45 ml capacity. Remanufactured cartridges for the 1350 are not that readily available from my usual sources so I end up refilling these cartridges myself with a messy ink refill kit. I have had great success with refilled ink cartridges for my other HP printers ($8 for a 45ml cartridge).
I also don't like that there is not a separate tray for completed print jobs. This is a jam waiting to happen if you are not paying attention. It also doesn't have a draft button for selecting a fast copy that uses less ink like other HP models.
The built-in card reader is a nice feature at this price point.

Good Printer |
| I rate this a 4 only because i haven't had it long enough to say it's the best thing since sliced bread. still so far it's been a nice product. the all in one thing is cool and the photos look nice and it is all pretty simple to use. my mother has had the same printer for a while and hasn't had any problems with hers. so i'd say if you are looking for a low cost, easy-to-use printer that does just about everything you need then i'd go with this one. |

PSC 1350 - Excellent all-in-one for the price |
After our old printer was broken during a move, we had a few objectives for our replacement:
1) Photo quality
2) Photo memory card slots
3) Scan/copy capability
After shopping around online I expected to pay $125-$150 for a good device and was pleasantly surprised to find everything I needed for just $100 at Staples.
I didn't experience any of the installation problems that others have mentioned. A quick-glance startup sheet was included, and everything went smoothly. I was up and running about 25 minutes after opening the box.
I have had the chance to use the product for a couple of months, and have some likes and dislikes:
Pros:
- Photo slots and proof sheet scanning allow for easy direct-from-camera printing.
- Photo quality. We have gotten some very good 4x6 images with just the standard color cartridge.
- Standalone copier (no need to turn on PC)
- Design and footprint. It doesn't take up much space.
Cons:
- It's noisy.
- There are occasional mishaps with the paper feeder (grabbing two sheets and occasional jamming)
In spite of the cons, this machine gets a "5" because it provides so much functionality and quality at such a low price point.
This is a great printer for home use.
