After having this product for 30 days my screen cracked for no reason by just placeing this HP IPaq rx3115 on my table gently. I called costomer support 2 mins after it happened they told me it would cost me 8- bucks just to have them look at it and tell me its a cracked screen i could tell that for free. Then they told me it would cost me about 208 bucks on top of the 80 for a new screen. I was very angery and they told me that it isnt covered under the warenty unless i can prove it was accidental its not liek igot a camera shot that can prove it. So basically they are screwing me, and just trying to get more money out of me. What amazes me the most is how they told me that the LCD screen was the most imporrant and expensive part of this product. Well owuldnt you want this to be the best quality part on the whole item then. I am just very angery that no one can help me with this promblem only after 30 days of use with the product without me putting out more money. Please trust me dont buy this product go with a Palm os they workmuch better and are 10 times better quality.

Great device for a casual user

I will not go into the details of the product as the review before mine went over every possible point any user of this device could possibly think of.

I am a casual user who is still in college and found this device to fit my needs very well. The multi media buttons, optional landscape view, and overall multimedia focus make this an ideal PDA for people who are going to use their device for entertainment purposes. I have been able to fit full movies onto 128 mb memory cards, so I always have something to look at in between classes, or on long trips.

I have also been able to record most of this past semesters lectures (with permission of the professors of course!) using the amazingly clear nuilt in microphone. It was able to pick up the professor from across the room without a problem(we have small class rooms, maximum 20 students, so you guys with mega sized classes might not find it so useful.)The downside to such a receptive microphone is that it also picked up the sound of paper being shuffled near it, which can sound a bit like finger nails on a chalk board when replayed.

It also comes in handy for a Word doccument viewer. I proof read my papers on the Ipaq and use the stylus to make my corrections. I do not recommend typing an entire paper on the mini keyboard, but it does work well for makr ups. I have all my papers written while in college in an SD card that is in the case with my IPAQ, 4 years of papers easily accessible!

I decided to buy this with some extra money I had instead of an IPOD. Unless you have 5,000 songs the IPOD is not that great,and can cost more than the Ipaq. I use my Ipaq for music using SD cards to hold the music. Granted I can only listen to a few hours of music at a time, but its worth it to get all the other features, you can't watch a movie on an IPOD! The earbuds that come with the Ipaq are pretty bad, consider buying a third party ear wear.

One last thing, I managed to write (and hopefully send) this review using the Ipaq's wireless internet connection. If that doesnt work I will just use the built in blue tooth connection and send it to my laptop.

Great and complete PDA for the price

After shopping for a PDA for a few weeks, I decided to trust Microsoft OS instead of Palm OS. This is my first PDA, so I can't tell everything about Palm vs HP. However, after a lot of reading and exploration I can tell you that this is a really great choice if your needs are met with the specifications (memory, wireless, programs, OS, etc.)

Even if you get 56 Mb of available memory (fills up quickly if you add programs, a lot on the web), it is a better investment to choose this PDA, and then buy a 1 Go SD memory card for less
than 80 $, rather than having the high performance PDA with 256 MB and 600 MHz processor that you're gonna pay a few extra 100s of $$$. The processor of the HP RX3115 has great performances. Loading of office applications is less than a second and you can easily play great games without lagging.

If you don't need the wireless feature, get the HP RZ1715. This product has about the same features than the 3115, exept for less memory (again, get a memory card), a bit slower processor (still veryu good), and no wireless/bluetooth connection. If you prefer going on the net everywhere you travel, this is a good feature and the connection is pretty good. It takes a few seconds for downloading a dozen of emails and you can connect on MSN messenger or surf on Internet explorer like on your personnal computer. This is one of the lowest priced PDA with bot bluetooth and wireless.

I personaly never use the media features like the universal remote control and media driving. However, it is a great innovation if you have modern electronic equipments at home.

If you listen MP3s, Media Player is really great and the sound quality is not less than usual. You can also store pictures. Viewing is not as good as on paper, but still details are great.

Voice recording at high quality setting is impressive. I even used it to record my personal music performances at home.

Quick buttons are preset for media applications, but you can set them for anything you want.

Batterie life is good, as long as you do not abuse of screen lighting intensity and wireless connection. For 8 hours, your daily use should be restrained to office applications like Outlook, calendar, contacts, Word, etc. Charging is really quick if the unit is turned off.

Overall, this is a really great purchase, both for media applications and organisation.
