Great Experience |
| The machine itself is excellent, and most importantly, the initial set-up in Tiger was a breeze - it ported everything from my previous PBook exactly as promised - including all of Adobe Creative Suite and much other software. Extra RAM requires the world's smallest Philips head screw driver (#00), but otherwise was easy and cheap = $104 for 1 meg to max it out. |

| This is the laptop that has finally freed me completely from Windows. I thought about the 15" for the screen real estate, but I'm glad I went with 12". The portability is fantastic. I'm enjoying it so much that it may be hard for people to take me seriously :) |

Improves an already-good product |
I was forced to trade up from the first-generation 12" G4 PowerBook (I passed it on to someone else...they pried it out of my hands.) I'm quite satisfied with the handful of improvements made in the last two years. The video out is now digital, so it can drive either an ordinary VGA monitor/projector or a DVI LCD. Fit and finish, already good, has been refined since that first production run. The keyboard is still great (for a laptop.)
The scrolling TrackPad is my favorite addition. Every notebook should have one.
There's still no PC card slot, which most people won't miss, and the 12" doesn't have a backlit keyboard like the bigger 'Books do.
Performance is fine. It's not a huge difference, but it's a nice step up, especially when you factor in the price drops over the last two years. Plus that Amazon rebate...send it in, don't let Amazon keep your money! |
